I know I’ve advertised this in our newsletter but I thought I would remind everyone that the Fiber Christmas in July Fiber Festival is this Friday and Saturday. I went last year with a couple of friends and it’s a very nice event so we should support our Oklahoma vendors.
The Oklahoma Watermedia Association’s juried exhibit
is on display at the Norick Art Center located on the Oklahoma City University campus from July 5 – 31, 2009. We are proud to announce that four FAO members have work in this exhibit; Sharon Allred, Carla Houston, Kay Moore, and Dawne Pyles.
The Basketweavers Guild of Oklahoma is presenting an exhibit of over 80 baskets that will be on display August 16 – 20, 2009 at the Waurika Public Library which is located in the restored train depot, 105 S. Meridian St., Waurika, OK.

There is a wonderful exhibit by Josephine Myers-Wapp, a 97 year old weaver, at the East Gallery of the State Capitol. It will be on display from June 22 – August 23. You can read more about it here.

I made a trip back to the IAO Gallery where the Fiberworks 2009 exhibit is on display to take photos. All the lights were not on so they didn’t turn out very well. Carla took her fancy camera so maybe her photos will turn out better than mine.
